The ten-rupee-fee to be paid to claim your Right to Information in India is a very reasonable charge.
It’s the equivalent of what it would cost you to get two-or-three cups of tea.
To get copies of information is costlier … specially that informtaion is bulky. But you could ask for inspection, and not have to pay more!
What’s the problem though is the fact that making the payment is a huge hassle.
Friends from Kerala report that the government there has made a rule that this payment can be done by affixing a court-fee stamp (which is easily available). Now, that could make applying under the Right to Information far more easier!
